About Furious Artisans
Furious Artisans is a unique collaborative record label dedicated to modern classical music, also called 'New Music'. Our primary focus is on contemporary American composers such as Jonathan Dawe, Mathew Greenbaum, Frank Brickle, Robert Martin and others. Our current and past advisory board has included such notable figures as Milton Babbitt, Chester Biscardi and Mark Rimple. We are also interested in forgotten or under appreciated composers of the 20th century, such as Dane Rudhyar and Giacinto Sclesi.
All of our recordings are carefully crafted to the highest standards of production, performance and audio quality.
Much of the music in our catalog has been exclusively recorded and released by furious artisans, thanks to a host of dedicated performers and composers, and the financial assistance of grantmaking institutions such as the NEA, The Aaron Copland Fund for Music, The Alice M. Ditson Fund, and others.
Please take some time to browse the catalog and listen to previews of the music. Currently there are close to 150 tracks available, all of which may be purchased individually or as part of an album.
For the future, we hope to continue bringing our listeners music that would otherwise not be heard, and to present it in the highest quality recording possible. Currently the catalog is downloadable in 16-bit FLAC (lossless/CD quality), which far exceeds the sonic quality of MP3, or AAC (iTunes). From 2011 and on, all releases will be 24-bit FLAC (lossless/studio master quality) and we will be gradually updating the back catalog to the higher bitrate.
Please feel free to contact us with your comments and suggestions, especially with music that you would like to see produced in the future. If you are a composer or performer and have an idea for a record, feel free to contact us about your project.
