Kuuskmann, Martin [Bassoon]

Estonian born bassoon virtuoso, Martin Kuuskmann, is one of the most prolific bassoon soloists of his generation. His solo appearances have taken him to eastern Europe, Japan, as well as across Canada and the United States. He is currently working on new bassoon concertos with composers Erkki-Sven Tüür, Eino Tamberg and Daniel Schnyder. Mr. Kuuskmann is the principal bassoonist of Absolute Ensemble, the Estonian-Finnish Symphony Orchestra and the Strathmere Ensemble as well as a busy free-lance musician in the New York City area. He has recorded for Enja, CCn'C, Warner Brothers/Finlandia, CRI and Delos labels. Mr. Kuuskmann serves as a faculty member at the Mannes College of Music Preparatory Division. He holds degrees from Manhattan School of Music and Yale University School of Music. Among his mentors are Stephen Maxym, Frank Morelli, Vernon Read, Rufus Olivier and Ilmar Aasmets.
